Saxifrage is Pacific Lutheran University’s premier literary and arts journal. Founded in 1975, Saxifrage has published hundreds of pieces of student work, including: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, digital art, photography, and occasionally musical scores!

Each year, Saxifrage sends out a call to campus to submit work in Fall, accepting submissions on a rolling basis until a final deadline in Spring. With the help of other students, the editorial team hosts a reading party where all the submissions are judged.

After weeks of work, with the help of English faculty’s proofreading and the IT staff’s workshops, all accepted student work is published in a new issue of Saxifrage!

Normally a printed publication, the 2019-2020 edition of Saxifrage made history by being the first online publication! In 2022, we are transitioning back to print publications; Saxifrage 46 and 47 will remain online for viewing.

We are currently accepting submissions for Saxifrage 48, our first edition back in print! Email all submissions and questions to saxifrag@plu.edu, or contact Professor John Englehardt for further inquiries, englehardt@plu.edu.

Submission Deadline: February 10th, 2022

We look forward to viewing your work!
